“The League is a useful platform for the learning and exchange of innovative ideas and leading practices among Community College leaders and practitioners. Our membership has enhanced our awareness on emerging trends, challenges and opportunities in post-secondary education and training. It has also provided us with opportunities for identifying common issues and best practices for sharing and collaboration with member colleges.”
Bruce Poh, Director and Chief Executive Officer, Institute of Technical Education

“The League is a catalyst for innovation. League members value the ability to innovate. We know we are not alone and help is as close as a click to IStream or a telephone call to a colleague at another League school.”

Blair Montgomery, President, Pierpont Community and Technical College

“The resources and collective wisdom we gain from our alliance with the League provides a springboard upon which the teaching and learning at Salt Lake Community College constantly catapults to new heights. Our students are the greatest beneficiaries of this, followed closely by our faculty and staff!”
Cynthia Bioteau, President, Salt Lake Community College

“In an era when innovation is so essential to the economic well-being of our nation, it is essential that our community colleges strike an alliance with the League for Innovation in the Community College. The League’s conferences, projects, leadership institutes, publications, and corporate partnerships continually inspire innovation at Lorain County Community College.”
Karen Wells, Provost/Vice President, Lorain County Community College

2007-2008 Benefits Year in Review

This membership year has been full of exciting awards and recognitions. Member institutions recognized their administration, faculty, staff, and students. Rodney
Hargis (Technology Champion), Mercer County Community College, NJ; Irvin De La Torre (Student Developer Champion), El Paso Community College, TX; and Richard Adam Phillips (Special Achievement Award), Snead State Community College, AL, won the Terry O’Banion Student Technology Awards sponsored by Microsoft Corporation.

The Innovation of the Year award is designed to recognize League college administration, faculty, and staff members who have designed and implemented significant innovations. In 2007, 39 recognition awards were granted in seven categories: workforce preparation and development, learning and teaching, student services and activities, research assessment and accountability, resource development, basic skills and developmental education, and leadership and organization. These winners are recognized on the League’s Innovation of the Year website.

Additionally, the League for Innovation recognized and highlighted many outstanding programs, events, and achievements by its member colleges in the League Alliance Member Spotlight, a monthly segment in our League Connections newsletter.
