More than 900 institutions and their campuses from 14 different countries and territories make up the League for Innovation. In addition, the League partners with more than 160 corporations and works with a host of other organizations, foundations, and government agencies to bring ground-breaking ideas to all of the League Alliance members.

By joining the League Alliance, your institution gains access to innovative ideas in learning, assessment, technology, leadership, workforce development, diversity, and fundraising from the best and the brightest in the community college world. You will also have the opportunity to connect with a wide range of community college professionals and corporate leaders who have experience in programs, practices, policies, and other areas that can help your institution achieve its goals.

2007-2008 Benefits Year in Review

This membership year has been full of exciting awards and recognitions. Member institutions recognized their administration, faculty, staff, and students. Rodney
Hargis (Technology Champion), Mercer County Community College, NJ; Irvin De La Torre (Student Developer Champion), El Paso Community College, TX; and Richard Adam Phillips (Special Achievement Award), Snead State Community College, AL, won the Terry O’Banion Student Technology Awards sponsored by Microsoft Corporation.

The Innovation of the Year award is designed to recognize League college administration, faculty, and staff members who have designed and implemented significant innovations. In 2007, 39 recognition awards were granted in seven categories: workforce preparation and development, learning and teaching, student services and activities, research assessment and accountability, resource development, basic skills and developmental education, and leadership and organization. These winners are recognized on the League’s Innovation of the Year website.

Additionally, the League for Innovation recognized and highlighted many outstanding programs, events, and achievements by its member colleges in the League Alliance Member Spotlight, a monthly segment in our League Connections newsletter. Colleges in this year’s Spotlight include member colleges in the United States and abroad: Butler Community College (KS), Carteret College (NC), Johnson County Community College (KS), College of Southern Nevada (NV), American Somoa Community College (Samoan Islands), Southwestern Indian Polytechnic Institute (NM), La Cité collégiale (Canada), Kennebec Valley Community College (ME), Del Mar College (TX), Anne Arundel Community College (MD), and Northland Polytechnic (New Zealand).
